So glad to find someone else that uses the iPad and rM2 together. I felt kind of guilty running the two side by side, but to see someone else do the same is validating ;)

I will be a complete online college student. My plan is to watch lectures, take notes, add notes to the given power points, submit assignments, emails, and discussion boards. I also would ideally like to take notes while watching the lectures at the same time. What would you iPad (model and size) and storage would you recommend?

I bought an M1 iPad😊 because I thought I would have access to a lightweight, portable, touchscreen, Apple Pencil version of FCP. I was frustratingly mistaken, as you were. The fact that you mentioned a MacBook Air does all the things the MBP does, at 40% of the price of an ipad, well, I hope someone at apple watched this video.

still on the fence after dozens of videos. sm7 by far is better sounding.. also I hear with the app set to "dark mode" the mv7 sounds the same on USB. Plus Shure sells an A to D adapter but that's $150 also, but maybe better quality than the built-ins.

During my shoots I flip the mic around so that you don't see the logos.

I am sure iPad pro13” will handle music scores and any related music apps much better than any other iPads.

hello I bought the mic 2 too but am confused. I see that you also play the guitar, so here I bought this microphone just to record a rock concert, to try, I plug in my stereo at home and I play music a little loudly to see the behavior the result is disastrous because when listening to the rendering, the sound is very low, so what I do is go up to 12 db on the transmitters and also on the receiver, so all the way up and there it goes a little better but not great. so have you tried recording when you play an instrument? could you help me? THANKS

I have a dji pocket 3 but I’m trying to make sure I buy the correct stuff and don’t overspend for my set up . I just need one lav and one receiver for solo content . Please correct me if I’m wrong . My Logitech case literally wore out. The stretch protecting fabric at the side stretched out of shape lending large gaps along the sides after 2-3 yrs use. Please let me know if that is typical before I reinvest in a replacement case.

The cellular is very interesting!! I will consider that, especially if one travels a lot. Worldwide wi-fi is harder to find and yes, it is slow and/or not secure.

I can NEVER get the TOUCH to work! It is so annoying, so I prefer the Face ID.

It’s an iPad. Use it as an iPad. If you need a MacBook then buy a MacBook. Why all these UA-camrs keep trying to mix the two is beyond me. I have the new iPad and it is my only ‘computer’ and as I’m not a power user it suits me fine Have a nice day 👍🏻

No surprise-- The Rode is the clear winner with wider range and it's picking up all the crisp details. DJI has a more user-friendly interface, but the Rode clearly wins in audio quality.

Great Video Scott, thanks. You had some 'niggles' about the older Magic Keyboard when you compared it to Logitech Combo Touch 2 years ago. One was the magnetic back could only be angled back so far. You didn't mention, in this video, whether the new one permits more 'angling' choices? Another niggle not mentioned is that there is no side-protection for the iPad, because the case edges do not fully enclose the iPad or wrap around it. Thoughts? My biggest complaint about the Logi, which is so obvious I can't believe no one mentions it, is, if the iPad is getting more laptop-like, why does the Logi have a kickstand with a hard edge that digs into your thighs when it's on your...lap? The kickstand's edge forces it it o be useful/comfortable only when you prop the iPad on a desk (or your airplane tray-table.) But put it on your lap,and the edge abuses your thighs, as well as making the whole device hard to balance and not jiggle around. Hello?

While my editing skills (and needs) are certainly not as professional as yours, I had an entirely different experience on my M4 iPad with Final Cut. I did use my fingers and Apple Pencil. For me, I do a three camera shoot for our podcast interviews (Sony ZV-1's, all recording at 4k). This is an hour + video interview. On my iPad M4, I was able to do a Multicam clip with these three 4k clips and the hour long audio file from my RodeCaster Pro. Including color grading, adding a few visual elements on screen, intercutting all the cameras as each person speaks, adding our video bumper front/back of the video. While not as easily done as on my Mac, in terms of interface... For me... the iPad is a great option for editing when I'm traveling with just my iPad. Exporting was relatively quick and the file returned out great. Again, not as intense as your editing workflow but I am quite pleased with the ability to do this on the go.

Let me ask you this: have you tried Premiere Pro on the iPad? I'm not sure if they both suck or if one is better. I haven't tried it yet.

Great video, TOTALLY feel your frustration. I bought the iPad Pro M4 13” and FCP is such a joke on the iPads. I know an update is coming within weeks but I don’t understand how Apple could release this program the way it is. Such fundamental flaws is very un-Apple like. Maybe it was a totally different team working on it with no editing experience. I have been using CapCut instead (as long as not doing advanced audio stuff) and the transitions, effects & more are much more advanced. Apple is falling way behind.

This was super helpful! Iv been on the fence about iPad Pro v MacBook Pro as a UA-camr and the more content I watch the more it’s leading me to a laptop. Unless! WWDC has some outstanding updates come Monday but I’m not holding my breath

So you’re legit never going to use your fingers to zoom? This is an iPad…I never saw you actually try to use the screen, only the keyboard. Do you think that there might be something’s done differently on a device that is made to be used with fingers vs a mouse pointer? We know this ain’t an exact port out to the desktop at. It cannot be one.

U're absolutely right. FCPX on iPadOS is A TOY! Nothing more than a toy. Lumafusion is much more powerful, but actually NONE of video editing apps currently available on ALL mobile devices (iPad Pro and Android) are really useable by professionals. Maybe, MAYBE, only Davinci Resolve on iPad Pro is a much better choice. but I don't know if it's really used by professionals in theirs daily workflows.

Which one would you recommend principally for emails, photo editing with Adobe and other software, Kindle etc. - budget limitations! I’ve had an iPad for MANY years! The charging dock isn’t reliable. Thanks!

Just had my new iPad Pro 11” delivered 2 hours ago from Costco. My current iPad Pro is 6 years old. Same specs. No cellular, no keyboard, or pencil. 512GB. I needed a new one as my touch screen seems degraded, touch is so frustrating! Works half the time. Battery life sucks even after optimization of apps and settings. It’s just old. Hope this new one is better, really don’t care about the “thinness “ just want it to work.

Performance isn't everything. Same old limited iPad iOS. Will stay with my more useful Samsung Tab S9.

Good video but don't you think it's kind of odd that you're making these big comments when WWDC is literally in 2 weeks? If you just made this in a couple weeks you would have had the full picture but now this video will be outdated almost immediately.
